Skyfall Game Coming Soon?

Like most people, I thoroughly enjoyed the latest addition to the James Bond movie franchise; Skyfall.

Probably one of the best Bond movies I’ve seen since Goldeneye. So after watching it, it suddenly dawned on me that there wasn’t a Skyfall game that had been released alongside the movie. Strange. I decided to scour the internet and see what I could dredge up about whether there would be an upcoming title for us gamers and results look surprisingly promising.

MI6 Community seems to believe there will be a game coming very soon, although everybody seems to be tight lipped on the subject.

I can only but hope for a game that lives up to the movie, the last Bond game that had any kind of success was Goldeneye and if a new Bond game comes out that lives up to that standard, we may all be in for a treat.

Wii U – Is This the Beginning of the end for Nintendo?

Black-Wii-U-600x300So last week we saw the release of Nintendo’s new edition to the family; The Wii U.

On the face of it, the console looks quite entertaining and I suppose the main focus is around the new Wii U GamePad.

It’s about a 10 inch long, tablet shaped controller, featuring a 6.2 inch screen in the center. It also has joysticks on either side of the pad, with a D-Pad and what appears to be Xbox style buttons (but completely inverted) on either side of the controller. It also features a motion sensor and an accelerometer for a more physical aspect towards gaming.

With a controller like this, you would like to think Nintendo are mounting a serious challenge to it’s Microsoft and Sony counterparts.

But are they?

Xbox 720 – Due for Christmas 2013?

Xbox_720-600x300Reports seems to suggest the sequel the Xbox 360 (only known at the moment as “Xbox 720″) will be released in time for Christmas next year.

A close source has reportedly informed Bloomberg of the release date. It is a good guess to assume the new console will be released around this time, as Bloomberg has a very good accuracy history with regards to release dates.

Gamespot informs;

Additionally, the sources said Microsoft has not yet decided when to announce its Xbox 360 successor. The company is reportedly mulling an announcement at an industry event like the Electronic Entertainment Expo or a separate event where the new machine would have all of the spotlight.

A lot of speculation has surrounded the new console, with a few sources suggesting that Microsoft will elaborate on the Kinect and make a more gesture related device. Reports also suggest Microsoft may also offer an Xbox branded device, which will allow users to play casual games.

Still, it’s very early to tell yet as to what we are likely to be looking at in terms of the next generation gaming, but I’m sure whatever the outcome, we won’t be too disappointed with the results.

Review: Resident Evil 6

AI_ResidentEvil6-600x300I was excited. More excited than I had been about previous Resident Evil releases (4 and 5 to be more precise). The TV adverts had me drooling. I thought “This is it, finally. Back to the good old days of true Survival Horror!”

How wrong I was.

I’d accepted many of changes Capcom had made to the Resident Evil series, specifically from Resident Evil 4, even though it took me a while. The over-the-shoulder camera angle was my first gripe, but I grew to accept it, even though I still don’t fully like it. I understood Capcom were only trying to move with the times. Resident Evil 5 annoyed me on more levels than just camera angles. Mainly through its lack of thrill, suspense and being set predominately in broad daylight. Zombies themselves didn’t feel like traditional zombies. Just a bunch of annoyed villagers who took a disliking to the “New Guy”.
